Coolsaet cracks top ten in Ottawa 10K race


Reid Coolsaet, 26, of Guelph finished a respectable 10th in the 2006 MDS Nordion 10K race Saturday in Ottawa.

The Hamilton-born long distance runner clocked 30:10 and was the top finishing Canadian. Kenya’s George Kirwa Misoi, with a time of 28.30, won the race for the second straight year.

Coolsaet, 26 competed against 7,315 runners in the 10K event. The race was part of Ottawa Race Weekend which saw a record 13,882 runners entered in two events. In a 5K race, 6,567 runners registered.

In the women’s category, Ukrainian newcomer Tetyana Hladyr placed first with a time of 32:05, before Kenyan Jane Jeruto Kibbit (32:23).
