Aldridge wins Firerock playoff hole in Great Lakes Tournament

LONDON — With a season behind him, Georgetown’s Gavin Aldridge used his experience to survive a three-way playoff and win his first Great Lakes Tournament on May 27.

Aldridge, Andrew Hastings and junior Britt Pronk found themselves tied with one-over-par rounds of 73s. Aldridge, who joined the Great Lakes tour last year, won on the first playoff hole at the Firerock Golf Club. Aldridge has played in a few one-day Ben Hogan Series events as well as in two Platinum Series Tournaments. The young amateur continues to show promise and is a name to watch this season.

The Firerock stop attracted a field of 53 players. The next GLT Amateur Series event takes place on June 27 at the Elmira Golf Club. The tour’s Platinum Series resumes in Cambridge at Whistle Bear on May 31-June 1 for it’s second of six events.
