Junior baseball Team Canada loses to Tribe

The question on Colin Buckborough’s mind was, How do you spell relief?

The Niagara Falls pitcher had a rough outing when called upon in the bottom of the sixth inning in Canada’s National Junior Team’s 12-11 loss to the Cleveland Indian prospect on May 30.

Playing the sixth game of their Dominican Republic Tour, Canada carried a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the inning. But Buckborough ran into control problems, walking two batters and hitting another before being tagged for a grand-slam homerun.

The Canadians bounced back, however, and regained the advantage going up 11-10 in the seventh frame.

Unfortunately for Buckborough he issued another pass in the seventh and the Indians came up with back-to-back doubles that gave them the win.

The Canadians had beaten the Cleveland team the day previous by a 17-5 margin. On May 31, Canada lost 12-3 to the Toronto Blue Jays leaving their tour record at 3-4 with one game left to play.
