Thunderbird Montgomery named Intercounty Player of the Week

Hamilton Thunderbirds Adam Montgomery is this week’s Intercounty Baseball League player of the week.

Montgomery, a catcher/third baseman, was an impressive 4-for-7 at the plate in the T-birds two games this past week. On the season, after seven games, Montgomery is batting 346 (9-for-26) with an on base percentage of .393.

The resident of Virgil (near Niagara-On-The-Lake) has scored five runs, and is tied for third in league with three doubles. Shortstop Marcel Champangie leads the club with a batting average and an OBP of .400 in each category.

Montgomery and Champangie could improve their stats tonight when the Thunderbirds welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to Bernie Arbour Stadium. Gametime is 7:30 p.m.

Regardless of the fact Hamilton has a record of two wins and five losses and the Leafs are five and two tonight’s game will once again be a grudge match between the two clubs. Toronto brings a 5-2 record into the game and is 1 1/2 games back of league-leading London Majors. Hamilton sits 4 1/2 games back of the Majors with a 2-5 record.
