Canada’s women volleyballers suffer net loss to Poland

Canada’s senior women’s volleyball team used Hamilton’s McMaster University to get their 2007 international season started.

Unfortunately, the debut wasn’t a successful one as Team Canada fell 3-0, with losing sets of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-14 against Poland. Playing in front of a full house of mostly Polish supporters, the visitors showed why they are ranked seventh in the world and are defending European champions.
Canada, with several players competing in their first international match, is ranked 23.

The Canada-Poland series resumes Sunday (June 4) at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga. Gametime is 2 p.m.

After the game Team Canada will return to its Winnipeg-based training in preparation to host the Japanese professional team, Takefuji Bamboo, June 8-15th. When that series concludes, the team will leave the Pan American Cup in San Juan, Puerto Rico from June 27 to July 8.

The Pan Am Cup is a qualifier for the 2007 World Grand Prix.
