Toronto Maple Leafs proved too much for the Thunderbirds on Friday, June 2, handing Hamilton its sixth loss of the season with a 7-4 Intercounty Baseball League game. Joe Colameco’s two hits, including a double, paced the visitors to Bernie Arbour Stadium. Colameco also scored a pair of runs.
The T-Birds Geoff Allen, Tony Daubert and Marcel Champagnie each had two singles for Hamilton which will go after its third win of the season today in Guelph. Tomorrow (Sunday, June 3) the Thunderbirds lay down the welcome mat for the Oshawa Dodgers.
Friday night, the T-Birds’ Mike Radonovic (0-1) gave up six runs – three earned – and six hits while striking out seven batters and walking four in seven innings. Toronto’s Mike Lynch (1-0) allowed three runs – two earned – and five hits in 5 2/3 innings and Matt Firth finished the game with his first save of the year.
