Baseball Thunderbirds back on winning track in Intercounty

Hamilton Thunderbirds rebounded from a loss 24 hours earlier to beat the Oshawa Dodgers 4-1 in the Intercounty Baseball League on Sunday (June 4th).

Geoff Allen’s three-run homer in the eighth inning at Bernie Arbour Stadium gave the T-Birds their win. Andy Steeds added a pair of hits to Hamilton’s nine-hit effort. Steed drove in the Thunderbirds other run which improved Hamilton’s record to 3-7. The T-Birds trail the first place 8-1 London Majors by 5 1/2 games.

Doug Chrysler pitched a complete game for his second win against one loss. He surrendered seven hits, struck out six and walked one.

Adam Garner (1-2) surrendered four runs and nine hits in 7 1/3 innings.

The Thunderbirds resume league play on Wednesday (June 7) when Kitchener visits Bernie Arbour Stadium for a 7.30 p.m. game.

In other IBL action on June 4, Toronto Maple Leafs dropped the Brantford Red Sox 5-1, Kitchener Panthers blanked Barrie Baycats 6-0, and London Majors thumped winless Stratford Nationals 12-0.
