Host Thunderbirds win two CanAm baseball championships


Hamilton Thunderbirds can chalk up a successful baseball weekend on two fronts.

Unlike last year’s inaugral CanAm Classic International Baseball Tournament that struggled through rain, this past weekend’s event had only sun to worry about.

And on the diamonds, the Thunderbirds took two major titles, winning the championship in the Senior (18 and under) division and the 17 and Under division.

The three-day tournament, organized by the Thunderbirds Baseball Club, saw the 18 and Under Tbirds hold off their neighbours, the Cambridge Intercounty Terriers 1-0. The 17 and Under squad had an easier time extinguishing the New York Inferno 6-1.
