It will be two Hamilton clubs and one Toronto entry against nine teams from the U.S. in this weekend’s Sandlot 15-Under World Wood Bat baseball tournament.
Besides the two Hamilton entries, the Thunderbirds and the Cobras, teams from West Virginia, Ohio, and New York are entered in the four-day championship. In Pool 1 with the Cobras are the Cincinnati Diamond Stars, the Buffalo Inferno, and the Rochester Monroe County Cougars; Pool 2 with the Thunderbirds has the Cincinnati Astros, the Buffalo Cardinals, and the Twinsburg (Ohio) Tigers; Pool 3 includes the Rochester Battery, the Indianapolis U.S. Athletic Hustle, the Etobicoke Rangers, and the West Virginia Valley Blasters.
Tournament play begins today at noon at Bernie Arbour Stadium. The Cobras will play twice today at the Heritage Green Sports Complex. Their 1 p.m. game is against the Rochester Monroe County Cougars and at 3.30 pm they play the Cincinnati Diamond Stars.
The Thunderbirds will play at Bernie Arbour Stadium at 7.30 p.m.
The tournament, which also includes a skills competition on Friday at 1.30pm at Bernie Arbour, concludes with championship games on Sunday morning.
