Czechs sweep Canada in women’s exhibition basketball series

Veteran Nikki Johnson of Niagara Falls was Team Canada’s third best shooter Friday as Canada lost its third senior women’s exhibition basketball game to the Czech Republic.

Johnson, 31, a 5-11 forward, who plays with the professional German club B.G. Dorsten, had six points for the Canucks, who lost 86-51. Johnson also had six points in the second game of the series, a 64-46 setback.

Canada lost the opener 86-56.

The Canadians now return home for a brief break before flying to Sao Paulo, Brazil for the Sept. 12-23 world championship. Canada is in Pool C with Senegal, Lithuania, and Australia.
