The first in a series of open baseball tryouts has been scheduled by the Halton Athletic Club (HAC) for it’s 2006-2007 development programs. The tryouts will be held at the Maplehurst Diamond, on Highway 25, just south of the 401 in Milton.
On Saturday, Aug. 26, all pitchers and catchers 12 to 18 years old are invited to attend. The following day is for infielders and outfielders. On both days tryouts will run from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
On Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. players at all positions are invited.
Players are expected to wear bull baseball uniforms (no shorts, no sweats) and bring all of their personal equipment. Completed Waiver of Liability and Medical Information and Release forms must be presented at the first tryout. The printable forms are available at the HAC website, www.hacbaseball.com under the ‘Registration menu.
There is a $50 cost for all tryouts and it includes a HAC tee shirt and beverages.
The 14-Under team will play a fall Sandlott schedule of 20 weekend games beginning in early September. The cost for that program will be $220.00 for new players and includes a HAC cap and long sleeve shirt. returning players will be charged $180 but receive no uniform pieces.
The 18-Under fall schedule will include eight Canadian Elite Baseball Congress exhibition games and 11 hours of weekend practices. The cost is $90.00. There will be an additional cost only for one tournament in either Canada or the US currently being planned.
The HAC provides a year-round schedule of baseball, academic & personal training and elite level competitive programs for baseball players.
