Hamilton Cobras open Canadian Bantam Championship with a win

The Hamilton Cobras opened the Canadian Bantam Baseball championships with a 6-0 win over Saskatchewan on Thursday. The Dean Dicenzo-coached team will play Alberta, 9-2 winners over Nova Scotia, on Friday.

The Cobras are representing Ontario in the national baseball championship, which is taking place at Riverside Baseball Park in Windsor, Ontario. Dicenzo has been to the nationals once before as a player with the Burlington Brants in 1981.

Ontario is pooled with Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan. In the B pool are British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and (host) Windsor.
