Lambert shy of cut in men’s master event at World 10-pin championships


Seven pins separates Hamilton’s George Lambert IV from advancing to the top 16 in the all events race of the masters event at the Men’s World 10-pin Championships. Lambert, one of six bowlers representing Canada, has the team’s top single total score of 2,660. The cut is 2,667 and Lambert is sitting in 18th spot after 12 games.

The leader is Finland’s Petri Mannonen who pin count is 2,824.

In the trios competition, Ray Vervynck of Whitby, Jason Kovack of Windsor and Joe Ciach of Mississauga placed 17th while Lambert, Lionel Lewis of Burlington, and Jonathan Simoneau of Montreal had to settle for 32nd. Korea placed first and third in the event.

In today’s event, the five-man team competition, the U.S. leads with 3,395 pins while Canada is 14th with 3,073. The overall competition, which has attracted 44 teams to Busan, Korea concludes on September 8.
