Mac soccer women remain undefeated in OUA play, share first place

The Mac Marauders women’s soccer team looks to extend its unbeaten streak to five games. The women have two wins and a pair of ties to share first place with Laurier Golden Hawks, who have the same record in the OUA West Division. On Saturday Mac will play its home opener against the York Lions who have one win and three ties. Gametime at Mac Back 10 Field is 3 p.m.

The Marauders last weekend tied the Windsor Lancers 1-1. Andrea Dunn’s goal in the waning minutes of the game gave Mac the tie after Windsor had scored in the 69th minute. Dunn, from London, Ont., has seen limited playing time at Mac because of injuries. The goal was her first in a Marauder uniform in three season’s.

The draw allowed Mac to remain tied with Laurier for first place in the OUA West, one point ahead of rival Brock University.

The Marauders men’s soccer team finds itself in a tie for third place after scoring in each half to defeat the host Windsor Lancers 2–1. The tie left Mac with a 2-1-1 record and knotted with Guelph in the OUA West division with seven points.

The Marauders’ Ryan Zak (Ajax, ON) opened the scoring midway through the first half with his first Mac career goal. St. Mary’s High School grad Justin Vespa from Ancaster scored the winner and his first of the year. The men also play York on Saturday, at the Back 10 Field at 1:00 p.m.
