The Mohawk women’s fastball team’s record dropped to 1-2 when they were blanked 4-0 by Durham Lords in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association play in Oshawa Friday night. Mohawk remains in fourth place in the seven-team league.
The Mountaineers remain in Oshawa for the annual Can Am Classic tournament today and Sunday. They open against Monroe New York today at 12 noon, and play Seneca (Toronto) at 4 p.m. Mohawk meets host Durham Sunday at 9 a.m. The third place game will be at 1 p.m. Sunday with the championship tilt at 3 p.m.
In the only other OCAA league game played Friday, Conestoga (Kitchener) blanked Canadore (North Bay), 3-0.
Mohawk resumes league play on Tuesday (Sept. 26) when the Mountaineers travel to Windsor to play the first place and unbeaten St. Clair Saints. Their record heading into weekend play is 4-0 and they are averaging 12 runs a game.
