Bulldogs reduce roster, send four players to Cincinnati Cyclones

The dressing room for the Hamilton Bulldogs got a little breathing space on Thursday. The American Hockey League team trimmed its training camp roster by releasing five players.

Gone are goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris, forwards Jean-Michel Daoust and Scott Reynolds, and defencemen Riley Day and Niko Tuomi. None played for the Bulldogs last season.

Grumet-Morris, Daoust, Reynolds and Day will report to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the East Coast Hockey League while Tuomi will join the ECHL’s Florida Everblades. He signed a contract with the Estero-based team on Sept.9.

Hamilton plays its second preseason game tonight against the Crunch in Syracuse. The Bulldogs third game is set for tomorrow afternoon in Woodstock’s Southwood Arena. The opposition will be the Toronto Marlies who beat the Bulldogs 6-5 in the first exhibition game.

Hamilton concludes the preseason schedule with a game against the Crunch at the Niagara Falls (Ont.) Memorial Arena. The game is set for Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Bulldogs will open the 2006-2007 season at home on Friday, Oct. 6 against the Manitoba Moose.
