Mohawk runners place seventh in men’s X-country team run


Andre Simon of Mohawk College finished 11th in a field of 85 finishers in the George Brown Invitational Cross Country Race in Toronto Saturday.

Simon, was timed in 31:20 for the eight kilometre run and trailed race winner Thomas McQuade of Georgian by 2:27. The race was held at Sunnybrook Park on the same course which will be used for next Saturday’s Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Championships.

Other Mohawk results were: Justin Hensen (30) 33:23; Greg Shipman (45) 35:38; Comacho Francis (57) 37:37; Chris Desilva (77) 42:01; Franco Elia (79) 42:40; Michael Wright (80) 42:47; and Adam Salhani (81) 43:39.

Mohawk was seventh in the overall men’s finishes. Humber placed first.

Margaret Myjak was the lone runner for Mohawk in the women’s five kilometre event. She was 20th out of 37 runners who finished and clocked 24:20.

The race was won by Hollie Gordon of Fleming College in Peterborough in 20:25.
