Mountaineers mauled by Bears in Michigan

The Mohawk men’s and women’s teams both ran into very stiff opposition in Flint, Mich., Wednesday, suffering defeats to the Mott Community College Bears.

The men, playing without their big gun Panyin Kyei, who did not make the trip, lost 124-41 in the exhibition game. Mott is one of the top community college teams in the U.S. The were state champions last year and finished the season with a 30-3 record. The Bears started this season ranked No. 1 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division Two teams.

Mott’s women’s squad is also strong, having played in two of the last four national tournaments. They posted a 99-39 victory over Mohawk.

The Mountaineers return to Ontario College Athletic Association on Saturday. The Windsor St. Clair Saints visit the Fennell Gym with the women’s game starting at 2 p.m. and the mean at 4 p.m.
