Mohawk’s women’s volleyball team got off to a strong start but faltered in the latter stages at the Humber Cup invitational tournament played in Etobicoke.
The Mountaineers took two straight games from Durham, but lost 0-2 to Algonquin, rebounded to defeated Loyalist 2-0 and then drew 1-1 with Seneca.
In their last game they were beaten by Cambrian 15-25, 23-25. In that match the starters played the first game with the bench taking to the court in the second contest.
Mohawk head coach Brian McEnhill feels the team has hit a plateau at this stage of their preparations for the regular season. He noted the play leveled off in similar fashion at this stage last year but the team went on to win the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association bronze medal.
With one win under their belts this season, the Mountaineers host the 1-1 Sheridan Bruins at the Fennell Gym Thursday at 6 p.m.
