Mohawk starts volleyball season with a win

Mohawk Mountaineers opened defense of their Ontario Colleges Athletic Association men’s volleyball league championship with a three-set sweep of the Sheridan Bruins.

Mohawk used scores of 25-16, 25-12, and 25-13 to hand the Bruins their second match defeat this season in the Central West Division.

Left side Jasmin Cull led the Mountaineers with 18 offensive points from 12 kills, one stuff block and five service aces which came in succession in the final set on Thursday.
The Ancaster High product came to Mohawk last year but had to sit out the season as a transfer from Belleville’s Loyalist College.

Right side player Kevin Watson had four kills, three blocks and four aces for 11 points in support of Cull.

The men don’t play again until Saturday, Nov. 25 when Nipissing University visits.
