The streaking Junior Red Wings made it seven straight Saturday night, downing the Georgetown Raiders 5-1.
Hamilton will look to make it eight in the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League on Monday night when the Mississauga Chargers are guests at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena for a 7.30 p.m. game.
Josh Van Dyk (12), Anthony Ruberto (4), Mike Galbraith (4), Jordan Radford (2), and Frankie Grandits (20) provided the Hamilton scoring. Ruberto’s was an unassisted shorthanded effort for the Stoney Creek native.
Steve Mullin had two assists for the Red Wings with Van Dyke and Grandits adding helpers to their single goals for two-point efforts.
Cam Talbot stopped 23 shots but was beaten by Kyle Schwende (18) on a powerplay midway through the second period.
With the win third-place Hamilton went five points (42-37) ahead of idle Burlington Cougars and kept pace with the second-place Oakville Blades who shutout Mississauga 3-0 on Saturday night. Cougars are home tonight (Sunday) to play the Bramalea Blues.
The West Division leaders, the Brampton Capitals (48), don’t play until Thursday.
