Jasmin Cull of the Mohawk Mountaineers men’s volleyball team is this week’s Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Male Athlete of the Week.
Cull, in his third year on left side, helped lead his team to a 2-0 week with wins over the Nipissing University Lakers and the Canadore College Panthers, both of North Bay. The Recreation and Leisure Services student is a graduate of Ancaster High School.
Against the Lakers, Saturday afternoon, Cull had 20 points in the match, which Mohawk won in four games. His total included 19 kills.The next day, against the Panthers, he had 17 kills, one stuff block and three aces for 21 points, as the Mountaineers swept three games. Cull is a powerful hitter who uses his 6-4 frame to terrorize opponents from his outside position and leads the OCAA Central West Region scoring race, averaging 5.9 points per game this season.
