Recalls deplete Bulldogs, Hamilton goes to Cincinnati for help

With the National Hockey League’s Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers calling up three Hamilton Bulldogs, the American Hockey League team has sent out an SOS.

Centreman Mathieu Aubin has been recalled from the Cincinnati Cyclones of the East Coast Hockey League to help fill the void left by Mathieu Roy reporting to the Oilers and Mikhail Grabovski and Maxim Lapierre joining the Canadiens.

The 20-year-old Aubin returns to Hamilton for the second time this season. In seven games with the Bulldogs during October and November, the Sorel, Que., native posted four points (two goals, two assists), with an even plus / minus rating and two penalty minutes.

The 6’4”, 204-pound right-handed rookie has also registered 14 points (four goals, 10 assists), a plus / minus rating of +6 and 16 penalty minutes in 15 games with the Cincinnati Cyclones this season.

Aubin is expected to arrive in Hamilton today, and be available to the Bulldogs for tonight’s game against the Rochester Americans. Gametime at Copps Coliseum is 7 p.m.
