Mohawk keeps perfect volleyball record intact

Mohawk Mountaineers remained unbeaten and in first place after sweeping the Niagara Knights 3-0 in Ontario College Athletic Association men’s volleyball on Tuesday night.

The Mountaineers stopped the Knights 25-15, 25-16, and 25-12 at Mohawk’s Fennell Gym to go 7-0 in the Central West Region standings. Mohawk has a six point lead over second place Nipissing, which is 4-2.

Jasmin Cull (Ancaster) led the way for Mohawk with 13 kills, one stuff block and six service aces for 20 points. Kevin Watson (Brampton) had eight kills and 11 points. Steve Pawelczyk (Hamilton) chipped in with seven points.

Nick Marcuz (Port Hope), with six points, was Niagara’s best. The loss left the Knights’ record at 4-3 in the West Region.
