Mohawk carries second seed into badminton showdown

The Mohawk Mountaineers are ranked No. 2 behind Fanshawe College for the Ontario College Athletic Association badminton West Regional Championships today and Saturday (Feb. 2-3) at Humber College in Etobicoke.

Seven colleges are participating in singles and doubles competitions with the top three teams advancing from each event to the OCAA championships Feb. 17-18 in Scarborough.

The Mountaineers will be led by reigning OCAA women’s singles champion Margaret Myjak, who will try to become the first Mohawk athlete to win back-to-back provincial badminton crowns since Hall of Famer Grace Siu in 1993-94.

Myjak has won three straight women’s singles titles at Invitationals at Fanshawe, George Brown and Seneca this season.
