Bulldogs planning benefit for injured rugby star Sean Corner

The Hamilton Bulldogs, working with the Hamilton Hornets Rugby Football Club, are planning a benefit night for Sean Corner on Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. when the Bulldogs play the Grand Rapids Griffins at Copps Coliseum.

Corner, 21, was left paralyzed from the waist down after injuring his spinal cord in a Hornet’s rugby game last September. The six-year member of the Hornets, Corner is a former Hill Park High School grad and Mohawk College Mountaineers alumni.

Tickets for the night are $15 and can be purchased by contacting Andrew Staios at (905) 546-8182 or via email at Andrew.Staios@hamiltonbulldogs.com, or at Slainte’s Irish Pub, at 33 Bowen St. in Hamilton. The Sean Corner Benefit Fund will directly receive $5 from each ticket sold.

Donations, including an autographed Team Canada Rugby jersey donated by Rugby Canada, will be raffled off during the game.

Other corporate partners involved in offering donated prizes include Shoot for a Cure, Park’s Furniture, Slainte’s, Barbarian Rugby, and WorldRugbyShop.com.

Corner will drop the puck during the ceremonial face-off before the game.
