Squandered opportunity costs Bulldogs a win

Hamilton Bulldogs let a two-goal advantage slip away and dropped a 3-2 American Hockey League decision to the Milwaukee Admirals on Friday night.

Milwaukee forward Pat Leahy scored the game-winning goal with 10 seconds remaining in regulation time.

With the loss, Hamilton’s record drops to 35-22-2-4 on the season.

Cory Urquhart opened the scoring for the Bulldogs at 5:05 of the first period. Corey Locke and Duncan Milroy set-up Urquhart who finished off the passing play with his fourth goal of the season.

Hamilton took a 2-0 lead two minutes later Mathieu Biron notched his eighth goal of the campaign.

With two goals in the second period, the Admirals tied the game 2-2. On the power play at the 15:13 mark, Chris Durno cut the ‘Dogs lead in half at 2-1 with this 11th tally of the season. Brandon Segal then tied the game by posting his 16th goal at 18:43.

Yann Danis suffered the loss for the Bulldogs despite making 26 saves on 29 shots. At the other end of the ice, Rinne turned aside 24 of 26 shots and picked up the win for the Admirals.

The Bulldogs return to action today (Saturday, March 10) at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to Toronto to take on the Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum. Fans can listen to the game on 820 CHAM beginning with the pre-game Show at 6:40 p.m.
