Kusey’s bat, Ricciardi’s arm sends Phoenix crashing in Elite baseball

The Canadian Thunderbirds got a two-hit, two runs-batted-in performance from Brian Kusey (St. Catharines) to pace the 15 and Under squad from Hamilton to an 8-2 victory over the Milton-Burlington Halton Phoenix.

Anthony Ricciardi (Hamilton) was the winning pitcher in the Boys of Summer Elite Baseball League game played at Hamilton’s Heritage Park. He went six innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out six and walking one.

For the Phoenix, Spencer Kelly (Burlington) was tagged with the loss. In two and two-thirds innings, he gave up two earned runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out one.

Phoenix leading hitter was TJ Singh (Burlington) with a double.
