Adam Short of Vineland was in a five-way tie for fourth place after the opening round of the Canadian Tour’s Iberostar Riviera Maya Open on Thursday.
Short carded a pair of 34s on the front and back nines for a 68, on the par-72 Iberostar Playa Paraiso Golf Club in Mexico. He trails co-leaders Josh Habig and Richard Gilkey of the U.S. who fired 7-under 65s at to set the early pace. They are one shot ahead of Canadians Derek Gillespie and Stuart Anderson.
Ancaster’s Trevor Marko had an opening round 76 (39-37) and Brantford’s Dennis Hendershott was disqualified.
This $125,000 event will close out the Canadian Tour’s international swing.
