Ontario flag football title up for grabs at Ivor Wynne

If you’re looking for a little football excitement in advance of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats starting their season, then Ivor Wynne Stadium is the place to go on June 16.

The Ontario Football Alliance will stage its Provincial Flag Football Tournament from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with the winner representing Ontario at the NFL/CFL Championship in Winnipeg from July 4 to 6.

Teams interested in competing have until May 30 to submit an entry but they must meet the following conditions: Only players born on or after Jan. 01, 1993 are eligible to participate in the provincial championship; only six team members and two coaches per team, but a league can enter two teams; all players must provide proof of age (birth certificate or health card or passport); only teams currently participating in the NFL/CFL Flag Football Program can participate; a $50 entry fee is due by May 30th along with the team roster.

In addition to the Ontario tournament, championships will also be decided at: Saskatoon, Edmonton or Calgary, Dartmouth, N.S., and Charlottetown, P.E.I.
