Super Sprints, Modifieds gear up for Cayuga

Cayuga Speedway Park welcomes the Auto Value Super Sprints and the Canadian Vintage Modifieds on Saturday, July 28.

The Super Sprints from the U.S. are considered one of the fastest sanctions and race only on asphalt. Cars must weigh 1,600 pounds and have top wings that are five feet by five feet. The cars have neither a transmission nor starter and require a push-start to fire their engines.

Their wide Hoosier tires and over 800 horsepower motors race at an alarming rate. The Vintage Modifieds are celebrating 40 years of racing in Canada.

“This open wheel weekend will attract many fans and put on an exciting day of racing”, said Jerry Santucci, president of Cayuga Speedway Park. Spectator gates will open at 11 a.m. with qualifying in the afternoon and the first race taking the track at 5 p.m.

Race tickets and camping can be purchased on line at or by calling 1 866-670-1958, 905-768-1177 (race track).
