Thunderbirds, Prospects elite baseball tryouts this week

Elite baseball players in various age categories are invited to a number of tryout camps in the Hamilton-Niagara regions. The Hamilton Thunderbirds are holding tryouts for players 12 to 18 years old. The Bullet Proof Prospects are also holding tryouts in Welland.

Elite teams are meant to give exposure to players looking for baseball scholarships to U.S. universities or are hoping to have a Major League Baseball team offer them a tryout. Elite teams play in major U.S. and Canadian tournaments that are attended by college coaches and MLB scouts.

The Canadian Thunderbirds will be holding tryouts for all three of their elite baseball teams on Wednesday August 15th at Bernie Arbour Stadium. Boys 12 to 15 years of age are to report at 9:00 a.m. Boys 16 to 18 years of age are to report at 12:00 p.m.

The Thunderbird, based in Hamilton, are the 2007 Sandlott World Champions.
