Mohawk beaten by weather, Saints in women’s fastball

Mountaineers 0, Fog 1.

Mohawk Sports Park looked more like Newfoundland’s Grand Banks than a baseball diamond on Thursday (Oct. 4). Conditions became so unplayable when fog rolled onto the playing field that game officials were forced to shorten the first game of an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association women’s fastball double header and then postpone the second game.

Beaten by the weather in the second game, the Mountaineers fell 4-0 to the first-place Windsor St. Clair Saints in a six-inning contest. Mohawk’s record fell to 2-5 while St. Clair went to 6-1.

Candice Gatecliffe pitched a two-hitter for the win. Jenny Koschanow took the loss. The Mountaineers’ next scheduled action is Thursday, Oct. 11 at Seneca.
