Volleyball Mountaineers show Killer Instinct in men’s tourney

The Mohawk men’s volleyball team captured the Killer Instinct Invitational Tourney at Durham College in Oshawa over the weekend, while the women’s side made it to the quarter finals before bowing out at the Wannamaker Invitational at Sheridan College in Oakville.

At Durham, the Mountaineers finished first in their pool with an impressive 8-2 mark. They went on to defeat Niagara 2-0 in the semi finals, before disposing of Humber 2-0 in the championship match.

Mohawk’s dynamic duo of Kevin Watson and Jasmin Cull were named to the tourney’s All-Star Team, while team mate Adam Sheidel was selected MVP of the event.

Meanwhile, at Sheridan, Mohawk’s women’s team went 6-2 to finish second in pool play. They then crossed over to defeat Canadore 2-0. However, the Mountaineers bowed 2-0 to Humber in a terrific quarter final. The Hawks made it to the final before being humbled in straight games by the powerful Nipissing University Lakers of North Bay.
