Mohawk cagers get experience, but no wins in two exhibition games

The Mohawk men’s basketball team completed a weekend trip to New York State dropping a 97-80 decision to the Rochester Institute of Technology on Sunday (Nov. 11). That set back followed Saturday night’s 96-82 loss to the Hilbert College Hawks in Hamburg.

On Sunday, Ricky Heath scored 18 points for the Mountaineers. Mackenzie Milmine had 11, while Matt Powless and Alen Beader scored nine points apiece. Marko Gacic had 14 points, with Heath and Milmine each collecting 12.

In the Saturday loss to Hilbert College, Coach Brian Jonker said his team played hard and it was a good opportunity to “get everybody a lot of minutes” which can only help later in Mohawk’s Ontario Colleges Athletic Association schedule.

The Mountaineers played four games the past week and return to OCAA action on Tuesday (Nov. 13) when they visit Oakville Sheridan.
