The Mohawk Mountaineers finished 1-and-1 in the one-day invitational basketball tourney at Sheridan College on Thursday (Dec. 20). The Centennial Colts topped Mohawk 80-72. Tyrone Berry led the Mountaineers with 15 points. Jerome Smith had 14 and Matt Powless 10.
Mohawk won its second game, 75-74 over George Brown Huskies. Marko Gacic, Ricky Heath and Berry each collected 14 points.
It was a very busy couple of days for the Mountaineers. Wednesday night (Dec. 19) they dropped a 90-63 decision to the visiting Juniata Eagles of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania at the Fennell gym in an exhibition game. Matt Bruyn scored 15, Gacic had 14, and Smith and Berry had 11 apiece.
