Cull’s star shines bright in eyes of OCAA

For the second time this season, Mohawk volleyball star Jasmin Cull has been named Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Male Athlete of the week.

It was a whirlwind week for Cull, who has spent much of his time rewriting the OCAA record books. Cull tore up OCAA competition breaking two records and just falling short of a third. The 6-4 left side hitter amassed an amazing 16 aces over two games, making him the all-time career aces leader with 101.

He also became the single season aces record holder, erasing Eric Talsma’s mark of 36 set in 2005-06. Cull currently has 45 aces with five matches remaining on his schedule.

Not just a threat from the serving line, he also fell just short of Brett Dailey’s total points in a game record of 39, with a 35-point performance against St. Clair on Jan. 19. In his two games this week, Cull posted a combined 42 kills, seven blocks, 16 aces and 36 digs.

Cull was also Athlete of the Week in November.
