Mohawk women join men on OCAA volleyball showdown

The Mohawk women’s volleyball team earned a berth in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association championships with a 3-0 win over Loyalist of Belleville in their crossover match at the Fennell Campus on Saturday (Feb. 16).

The Mountaineers won 25-18, 25-18, 25-19.

Head Coach Brian McEnhill got every one of his players into the contest. Rachel VanHartingsveldt led Mohawk’s offensive attack with 16 points from 13 kills, and three service aces. Leah Waxman had 10 kills and two aces, while Sarah Borycki chipped in with seven kills, two stuff blocks and one ace.

The OCAA volleyball championships will be played at Fanshawe College in London on Feb. 21-23. Mohawk’s men’s team had already sewn up a spot in the event after a perfect regular season.
