HOC athletes back on track

The Hamilton Olympic Club Power/Speed group returned to action on the track on Feb. 17 with multi-event athlete Kelly Morrison leading the charge for the Sprinters.

Morrison qualified for the 60-m hurdle event with a 9.84s mark and slowed slightly in the final to post a time of 9.89s for a sixth place finish overall.

Meanwhile, back on the oval, the 200m runners were participating in the one-lap sprint, this time led by Tamar Brereton’s 16th place finish (27.32s).

Newcomer Chantelle Robbertse was the second finisher in the HOC group with a time of 28.92s (35th) followed by Elisha Ladeza (28.96s – 38th), Simone Mallett (29.07s – 42nd), Natasha Auret (29.31s – 45th) and Kristen Boonstra (29.35s – 47th).

Morrison would also conclude the competition for HOC athletes in the Long Jump where she placed ninth with a leap of 4.59m in the opening round of the competition.

The next competition for the Power/Speed Group is the BMJ’s Championships March 1-2 at York University.
