Bowlerama teams win YBC zone honours


The Bowlerama Stoney Creek Bantam Boys (ages 8-10) 4 Steps to Stardom team successfully completed the second step by winning the zone 5-pin Youth Bowling Council tournament over five other local bowling centres’ youth programs. The team included Nicholas Barlow, Cody Freeman, Matthew Andrews, Jake Kielty and Nick Kent-Lovelady, coached by Dave Mitchell. All bowled over their averages in winning the zone championships on Sunday, Feb. 17 in Dundas.

Andrews was the team’s first star, bowling an 821 for five games.

The team now advances to the southern Ontario finals in Eastern Ontario. The Bantam Boys bowl in Cornwall on Sunday, March 9. Other teams that were victorious from Bowlerama at the zone championships were both the senior (14-18) boys and girls and they will advance to Ottawa on the same day.

Also attending the Provincials from Bowlerama are singles winners (these bowlers won the singles zone finals back in mid December): Bantam Girl Deanna Walters, Junior Girl Melanie Moser, Junior Boy Colin Busse and Senior Boy Mitch Davies. All singles compete on March 9 at two different centres in Ottawa.
