Battlefield Babe Ruth Baseball is adding two charted leagues for the Hamilton area for the 2008 season.
For 2008, the Eva Rothwell Resource Centre at Robert Land joins the North America baseball program to return organized baseball to the North End. After a one-month test late in 2007, the group realized that organized affordable baseball was in need in the Keith neighbourhood. For this season, the centre at Robert Land will offer Cal Ripken T-Ball (4-7), Cal Ripken Rookie (pitching machine 8-9), Cal Ripken Major (10-12) and Babe Ruth 13-15. Contact the centre for more information at www.robertland.org.
Organized youth baseball also returns to the fast growing community of Binbrook and will serve upper Stoney Creek, Glanbrook, Caledonia, and West Lincoln. Binbrook Cal Ripken will offer Cal Ripken T-Ball, Rookie and Major for the 2008 season. See www.leaguelineup.com/binbrookcalripken for further details.
“Our mandate has been to bring affordable community baseball to the city to indeed help make Hamilton the best place to raise a child” says Robert Barlow, league president for Battlefield and Stoney Creek public school trustee with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board.
Battlefield Baseball has operated in the Stoney Creek, East Hamilton and West Niagara areas since 2005. Cal Ripken divisions were added for the 2007 season, so Battlefield offers the full range of programs from Cal Ripken T-Ball to the 16U Niagara Frontier Babe Ruth league team. More information on Battlefield can be found at www.leaguelineup.com/battlefieldbaseball.
More than 1,000,000 kids are registered with Babe Ruth League Inc. Babe Ruth League operates several World Series starting with 10U all the way to 16-18. Cal Ripken Baseball’s 12U Major World Series on 70′ bases and 50′ pitching mound is held annually at his complex in Aberdeen, Maryland and is a world class event. See www.baberuthleague.org and www.ripkenbaseball.com for details on the organization.
