McMaster recruits provincial most valuable player QB Kyle Quinlan

McMaster Marauders have recruited the Ontario Varsity Football League Western Conference’s most valuable player, quarterback Kyle Quinlan. The 6-3, 185-pound pivot attended Cardinal Carter Catholic Secondary School in Leamington.

In 2007, Quinlan led the Essex Ravens to the OVFL final against the Mississauga Warriors and was named the Game MVP for the Ravens. Quinlan holds the OVFL record for the highest quarterback rating in a season.

Over his career with the Ravens, Quinlan has completed 118 of 227 passes for a completion percentage of 51.9%. He is the leading passer in history with the Ravens, throwing for 2,470 yards (20.9 yards per pass). Most impressive is Quinlan’s 32 touchdowns against a meager four interceptions.

McMaster head coach Stefan Ptaszek noted that “Kyle is an extremely talented young man, with a strong arm, good mobility and phenomenal poise and intelligence for a person his age. We welcome him to the McMaster football family.”

McMaster opens the 2008 season on Monday, Sept. 1, at 1p.m. at Queen’s University in Kingston.

McMaster’s grand opening of the Ron Joyce stadium is set for Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m.
