Mackenzie Milmine of the Mohawk Mountaineers was named to the West Region Second All-Star Team at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Championship Awards Dinner at Hamilton’s Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday (Feb. 27).
Milmine, a third year Advertising Student from Assumption High School in Brantford, had 219 points and 42 three-point field goals for the Mountaineers this past season.
The OCAA player of the year is Anthony Batchelor of Durham College. Batchelor was also named an All-Canadian, as was Neil O’Sullivan of Fleming College in Peterborough.
The Rookie of the Year honour went to Jovain Wilson of Fleming. Fleming also has the coach of the year in Bill Crowdis.
The OCAA Men’s Basketball Championship starts on Thursday (Feb. 28) at the Fennell Gym.
At 2 p.m. Algoma plays Centennial. At 4 p.m. by Algonquin and Sheridan meet with St. Lawrence of Kingston playing Humber at 6 p.m. The final game of day one has Fanshawe meeting Fleming of Peterborough at 8 p.m.
Semi finals are set for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday. The bronze medal game goes Saturday at 4 p.m. with the championship final at 6 p.m.
