Mohawk strikes first at CCAA volleyball title hunt

Day one of the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association’s men’s volleyball national championship at Humber College is in the books as fans were treated to plenty of great volleyball action throughout the day.

Mohawk Mountaineers won their opening match on Friday (March 7) defeating Quebec’s Limoilou 3-1 (26-16, 28-26, 19-25, 25-22). Other opening round scores were: UBC-Okanagan defeated UKC 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-20); Briercrest defeated Malaspina 3-1 (16-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-17); Mount Royal defeated Humber 3-0 (25-16, 28-26, 25-20).

Today’s matches are:

Bronze medal quarter finals: UKC vs. Malaspina, 1 p.m.; Limoilou vs. Humber, 3 p.m.
Championship semi-finals: UBC Okanagan vs. Briercrest, 6 p.m.; Mohawk vs. Mount Royal, 8 p.m.

Sunday (March 9)

Bronze medal semi-finals: 10 a.m, and noon.
7th/8th Match: 2:30 p.m.
Bronze medal match: 5 p.m.
Gold medal match: 7:30 p.m.
