Ancaster hosts Ontario Elite, OFSAA Gymnastic Championships

SportHamilton and the Hamilton Mountain Gymnastics Centre will host five days of Womens Artistic Gymnastics competition at the Morgan Firestone Arena in Ancaster. The Elite Ontario Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships will be staged on Friday April 25, Saturday April 26 and Sunday April 27. The OFSAA High School Girls Gymnastics Championships will follow on Monday April 28 and Tuesday April 29. Eight different Gymnastics Olympians will join us for the Awards presentations for Gymnastics With The Stars.

The competitions feature over 1,000 participants including athletes, coaches and officials. Female artistic gymnasts will compete at Elite Ontario for Provincial Championship Titles and for Team Ontario selection to the Canadian Championships and Eastern Canadian Championships. High school gymnasts from eight Ontario regions will compete for Individual and Team Awards in Artistic Gymnastics. The OFSAA Championships will also feature a Team Aerobic Gymnastics Competition in the afternoon session of Tuesday April 29.

Four of Ontario’s top gymnasts competing at Elite Ontario are athletes from the co-host of the weekend long competition – the Hamilton Mountain Gymnastics Centre.

Justine Hudecki will compete in the National Novice division on Saturday afternoon and will demonstrate her dynamic tumbling; teammate Sarah Rosati will show a strong performance on Balance Beam in the National Open division scheduled for Saturday evening.

Erin Darling, another Mountain Star gymnast, has qualified to compete in the Level 7 – 12-13 year old category and Geena Jentilotti will represent the Hamilton Mountain Gymnastics Centre in the Level 8-12-13 year old division.

Over 150 volunteers will be involved in presenting a first class and memorable competition for all the athletes, coaches and officials.
