Former Hamilton Cardinal Sean Reilly had two triples and a two-run homer and plated seven runs to carry the Guelph Royals to a 15-6 senior Intercounty Baseball League win over his former teammates.
Tuesday’s (May 6) win was a marathon session that lasted three hours and 47 minutes and produced a total of 23 hits. On Sunday the Royals beat Hamilton in a contest that took three hours to play.
Andrew Karkoulas also had three hits and scored twice while batting in one run. Kyle Leon and Mike Walker both drove in a pair of runs for the Royals as they slapped 17 hits in the game.
Pitcher Patrick Warden started, but lasted just 3 2/3 innings. Reliever Craig Fairfull then pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings for the win. He allowed two hits with two strikeouts and four walks.
Dariel Saucedo was charged with the loss, allowing six runs – five earned – on seven hits, and two walks over 3 2/3 innings. Andy Sprintstead drove in three runs for Hamilton with Jesse Robertson adding three hits and an RBI.
Each team had a pair of errors.
Saturday, the Thunderbirds travel to Brantford to play the Red Sox at 2 p.m. in Arnold Anderson Stadium. The following day, the London Majors visit Bernie Arbour Stadium for a 2 p.m. game.
