Tkach is skating her way to Germany

Ancaster’s Barbara Tkach will join 27 other Canadians who will compete in this year’s International Skating Union (ISU) International Adult Figure Skating Competition. The 28-member national team is record number of Canadians who will compete May 29 to June 1 in Oberstdorf, Germany.

Tkach, who won this year’s Canadian Bronze women’s IV class free skate category, will compete in that division and the Silver and Bronze Ladies IV Artistic Free Skate sections.

The event which has gained popularity since it was introduced in 2005 features a number of competitive events in women’s and men’s free skating and artistic free skating, pairs free skating, ice dance compulsory dance, original dance and free dance, and synchronized skating. Competitors must be between the ages of 28 to 71 years. Canadians won 14 medals last year.
