Dundas, Oakville falter in Stoney Creek Little League playoffs

Erindale looks to defend its 2007 championship when they face High Park in the 2008 District House League Tournament Championship game on Sunday (June 22) at Optimist Little League Park in Stoney Creek.

The Erindale Red Sox came from behind to defeat the Oakville Marlins 3-2 on Saturday (June 21). Anthony Harris, of Erindale, took the win in the game. Harris allowed one hit in the single inning of work on the mound. He also helped his own effort with three hits, including a double and a run-batted-in.

Owen Williamson took the loss for Oakville. During his one inning of mound duties he surrendered three hits that produced three runs.

Matthew Des Vignes and Jonathan Carman each had singles for Oakville.

The High Park Athletics had no trouble with Dundas in the other semi-final, stomping the Athletics 12-0. Craig Ogaki pitched one inning of work to gain the victory for High Park. Ogaki allowed only one hit.

Peter Wilson led High Park with three hits, including a double and two RBI while teammate Daniel Keith had two triples and three RBI in three plate appearances.

Andrew Correa and Austin Coles each singled for Dundas’ only hits off of the High Park pitcher.

The championship game will mark the second time that Erindale and High Park have met in this year’s tournament. In preliminary round play, High Park beat Erindale 5-4. Sunday’s championship game will start at 1:05 p.m. at Optimist Little League Park in Stoney Creek off of Highway 8.
