Hamilton Thunderbirds could only manage a meager four hits in falling 5-1 to the London Majors in Intercounty Baseball League play.
London pitcher Pierre Melville-Deschenes pitched an impressive 7 2/3 innings to stymie the visiting Thunderbirds on Friday (June 28). Eight Hamilton batters went down swinging while three took a free pass to first base as the Thunderbirds record fell to 7-15, the reverse of the Majors. London moved to within two games of the first place Barrie Baycats with the win while Hamilton sits in seventh place in the nine-team senior circuit.
Chase Gaff drove in the lone Hamilton run and took the loss on the mound. He went seven innings, allowing four runs – two earned – on nine hits with six strikeouts and five walks.
Medi Dgebbar got the last four outs to finish up the four-hitter for the Majors.
Jess Bechard and Christian Ruiz both had three hits for the Majors, who had 12 in the game. Mason Reilly had two hits and Dave Narodowski drove in a pair of runs for London.
