Hamilton Thunderbirds bats were silent on Friday night, managing only three hits in a 6-3 loss to the Brantford Red Sox. Four Red Sox pitchers combined their talents to hand the visiting Thunderbirds their 22nd loss of the senior Intercounty Baseball League season against eight wins.
Jake Eliopoulos picked up the win, going five innings as the Red Sox won their 20th game. He allowed three runs on three hits with five strikeouts and six walks.
Newcomer Rick Humel pitched two shutout innings, another newcomer, Gabe Ribas, tossed a scoreless eighth and Marc-Andre Major picked up the save with a scoreless ninth, striking out the side after giving up two walks.
Lee Delfino and Josh McCurdy both homered, had two hits and drove in two runs for the Sox, while Adam Vella had a pair of singles in the nine-hit attack.
Hamilton starter Scott Wells pitched a complete game, allowing six runs on nine hits with 12 strikeouts and five walks. Wells also had a pair of hits for the Thunderbirds.
